' Caught Calling' (C) Ruut den Daas  

Different view, different pictures.

Zodra ik door de lens kijk, dient zich een andere wereld aan.
Details vormen hun eigen dimensie en kunnen mij op het verkeerde been zetten.

Hoewel ik kleurfotografie niet schuw, gaat mijn voorkeur uit naar zwart-wit.
Zwart-wit opnames herbergen namelijk een spanning in zich. Die spanning wordt veroorzaakt door de nuances.
Dit maakt een foto in combinatie met de compositie, méér dan een weergave van de werkelijkheid: zij creëeren een eigen werkelijkheid!
Ook het spel tussen licht en schaduw neemt een belangrijke plaats in.
Een belangrijk kenmerk van mijn werk is, dat ik vormen uit hun context haal. Elke foto heeft daardoor een eigen sfeer.

Gastfotograaf van de maand

Onder deze titel zijn de foto's van een gastfotograaf te zien in de fotogalerij. In December verwelkom ik Yalcin Sertkaya uit Turkije. 

Het werk van Yalcin wordt gekenmerkt door zijn mooie compositiekeuze, waarbij hij zijn fotografie- object op verrassende wijze portretteert. Bijzonder aan zijn werk vind ik niet alleen zijn gevoel voor compositie, maar ook zijn ' post-processing'. In de nabewerking van zijn foto's weet Yalcin van zijn mooie compositie iets bijzonders te maken. Zo is hij in staat de lucht iets dreigends mee te geven. Hij doet meer bijzondere dingen met licht, zo valt het licht als een aura om zijn hoofdonderwerp heen. In zijn nabewerking transformeert Yalcin de kleuren in zijn foto's, waardoor zij een geheel eigen karakter krijgen.
IIk ben blij dat Yalcin op Ruutartphoto wil exposeren....

 Different view, different pictures.

As soon as i look through the lens, another world appears.
Details form their own reality and sometimes they can confuse me.

However I do color, I prefer black & white pictures. Black & white carry a tension. The tension is caused by the nuances. This makes a picture, combined with the composition, more then a replicant of reality: it creates a reality of it's own.

The play between shadow & light is important.

Characteristic for my work is that I lift forms from their context. Each picture therefore has it's own atmosphere.

Guestphotographer of the month

You can find the guestphotographer and his work in the gallery.

 In December I welcome Yalcin Sertkaya from Turkey.
Yalcin's work is accentuated by his choice for compositon, in which he encouters his object on a unorthodox way. Not only his 'feel'  for composition is remarkable but also the way Yalcin ' post-process' his pictures. During this post-processing Yalcin adds something special to his pictures. For example, he knows how to make the sky ' threatening'. He also is capable to do special things with light: the light is falling like an aura over his subject. Yalcin also transforms colors. Due to this transformation his pictures get theit own, individual character.
I'm glad Yalcin wants to expose his work on Ruutartphoto....
